Interior Design Trends 2025: It’s that time of year when many interior designers and trend forecasters define the upcoming trends for the new year. I always enjoy researching what will be in and what is on its way out – and this year is no exception.

Whether you prefer contemporary, modern, rustic, Scandinavian, or farmhouse design, these trends can be applied to any style. They include curving furniture, modern organic aesthetics, bold patterns, cozy reading nooks, velvet textiles, and incorporating natural elements.

Expect to see a focus on spaces that prioritize comfort, including casually comfortable furniture, sumptuous fabrics, plush upholstery, and ergonomic design. Wellness and relaxation will also be at the forefront in 2025, with people wanting to live in spaces that make them feel good.

All-white interiors are notably a thing of the past, while earth tones, warm metallics, and earthy neutrals are making their way into interiors. “People want their homes to feel alive and personal, with pieces that have history, character, and personality,” says AD100 interior designer Brigette Romanek. 1. Color Trends for 2025

Luxe Source asked the country’s top designers what color trends are influencing current and upcoming projects. Earth tones take center stage, along with moody hues that add richness and depth.

Green is another top contender, as are subtle shades of pink. Color-drenched spaces that make a statement continue from last year, as do striking metallic finishes for hardware and fixtures.

2. Shades of Brown

Shades of brown will continue gaining momentum in 2025 and act as a versatile grounding color. Brown is timeless, provides a connection to nature, and can act as a soft, neutral, or rich, moody hue. From clay-toned browns that bring natural warmth to chocolate brown, mocha mousse, deep chestnut, camel, and amber.

3. Pantone Color of the Year 2025 Mocha Mousse

Mocha Mousse is Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2025 is Mocha Mousse; a warming, brown hue imbued with richness. It nurtures us by suggesting the delectable qualities of chocolate and coffee, answering this year’s desire for comfort. Pantone created 5 unique color palettes featuring this versatile shade with suggested color harmonies. The images below are two of my favorites:

4. Earthy Tones

This year, many people will be embracing a mix of creamy neutrals, shades of mossy and sage green, taupe, deep rust, terracotta, ochre, and sage, which bring a grounding and calming effect to interiors. These hues reflect the colors of nature and are ideal for creating a serene and comforting living space.

In 2025, these earthy tones will be paired with natural materials for an elevated and organic look. The images below apply similar palettes to country and contemporary spaces, showing how they easily adapt to different design styles.

5. Rich Jewel Tones

Rich jewel tones add depth and sophistication to all spaces in a home—from saturated greens to deep burgundy, navy blue, purples, and terracotta. Bold colors work best with a level of contrast that acts as a palette cleanser. Pair with glimmering metallic accents for a refined and elegant look that adds a touch of sparkle.

6. Warm Metallics

Warm metallics such as gold, bronze, and copper bring luxury and refinement to interiors while pairing beautifully with neutral and bold color schemes. In 2025, silver tones are making a comeback and will provide another versatile option to elevate all spaces within the home—from kitchens to dining rooms, bedrooms, and living rooms. It’s important to incorporate a mix of metals with a thoughtful and artisan touch to avoid a mismatched look.

7. Ceiling Treatments

Interior designers often refer to the ceiling as the ‘fifth wall’ to emphasize its importance in the overall design. This year, we will see ceilings elevated with coffered designs, wallpaper treatments, beams, and wood panels. In the image below, interior designer Miyuki Yamaguchi incorporated a wood ceiling treatment that complements the cabinetry, flooring, and range hood.

8. Velvet Accent Pieces

Velvet is a perennial favorite of many interior designers – including myself. It instantly adds a soft-to-touch texture that is smooth to the senses. This timeless and versatile fabric catches the light beautifully, creates a luxurious feel to the design, and pairs well with other fabrics such as linen and silk. Velvet can be incorporated into upholstered furniture, window treatments, throw pillows or other soft furnishings.

9. Drapery

In 2025, drapery will provide more than function; it will become an art form. Whether pleated or patterned, large fabric installations frame the space in a sculptural way, bringing texture and movement while softening hard edges. In the images below, striking floor-to-ceiling drapery adds romance, fluidity, and drama to two living areas.

10. Brown Furniture

The new year leans into a revival of brown furniture. Traditional, in essence, brown furniture is demure and classy and infuses a room with authenticity and warmth. In the stunning living room below, Studio Montemayor included a velvet sectional in a rich shade of sumptuous chocolate that contrasts perfectly with two cream boucle accent chairs.

11. Natural Stone Accents

Natural stone brings a timeless quality to a space, introducing a sense of purpose, organic texture, and luxury. Whether you choose slate, granite, or marble, stone can be incorporated in various ways – from kitchen countertops and backsplashes to flooring, decor, fireplace surrounds, and accent walls.

In an award-winning Tribeca apartment created by Arsight Design, stone is paired with warm wood tones to create a warm and balanced kitchen. Inspired by the nature of elements, the space brings together a mix of stone, sand, clay, and wood and highlights the perfections and imperfections within the architecture and furnishings.

12. Curvilinear Furniture

Curvilinear furniture is having a serious design moment in 2025. It includes curving sofas and sectionals, circular coffee and dining tables, oblong mirrors, and gently rounded accent chairs. This year, furniture will continue to have softened lines, such as kidney-shaped sofas, dome pendants, and barrel chairs. Arches are also taking center stage, from bathtub and kitchen range archway alcoves to furniture pieces.

13. Woven & Mesh Cabinets

Woven fabrics are appearing in kitchens, bathroom vanities, and furniture this year. Woven and mesh cabinets soften hard spaces, break up the expanse of kitchen cabinets, and provide a warm counterpoint to cold surfaces. They add visual interest, additional texture, and earthy hues to a kitchen design.

14. Casually Comfortable Furniture

According to the experts, 2025 is all about embracing casually comfortable furniture to create relaxed and inviting spaces that do not compromise style. Here, we’ll see furniture that blends seamlessly into every design style, from rustic to farmhouse and modern, including oversized sofas, round edges, deep seating, and cozy fabrics.

15. Artisinal & Handcrafted Pieces

This year, artisanal and handcrafted pieces add character to your home while supporting sustainable practices. From bespoke furniture to handmade ceramics, sculptural forms, and unique artwork, these items bring a sense of craftsmanship to the home while supporting local artisans. Invest in a few statement pieces that speak to your design sense, add character to the space, and add a personalized touch.

16. Organic Modern Style

The rising interest in organic modern style, which began last year, embodies warm and inviting colors, natural materials, and curvilinear forms such as arches and curves. This design style embraces creamy off-white tones, stone, marble, wood, woven textures, and neutral hues. It’s at once comfortable, refined, and relaxed. Be sure to include sculptural forms, warm colors, rich woods, modern elements, and indoor plans for a cozy look.

17. Wood-Like Tiles

Slatted wood-like tiles are the perfect way to introduce wood tones to the bathroom without worrying about moisture damage. In a home designed by Keel Custom Homes, slatted wood-like tiles add warmth, color, and dimension to the shower while providing sophisticated contrast to white walls, flooring, and countertops. Black accents and detailing are the perfect finishing touch.

18. Sensorial Interior Design

In 2025, interior design will see an upsurge in sensorial design that appeals to all senses. Sensorial design incorporates textures, scents, sounds, and lighting to create immersive spaces with psychological benefits. To achieve this effect, consider adjustable lighting to set the mood, plush area rugs, aromatic candles, soft music, and cozy textures.

19. Integrated Outdoor Living

Another trend that continues to gain momentum into 2025 is seamlessly blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces. In the image below, ARRCC Design created this gorgeous indoor/outdoor space with an outdoor living area as stylish and comfortable as the interior. Sliding doors provide quick access to a seating area infused with warm wood tones, stone accents, and contrasting elements.

20. Laundry Rooms With Sophisticated Style

Laundry room style has evolved over the past years – from bright colors and bold patterns to a more subdued and transitional feel. In 2025, laundry rooms will embrace a more contemporary approach with luxurious finishes, elegant wallpaper, rich cabinet colors, artwork, and unique light fixtures. Studio McGee designed the sleek laundry room below that incorporates a combination of cabinetry in rich wood and green hues, gold hardware, and a mix of tile flooring and carpet.

21. Touch-Me Textures

Texture has always played an important role in interior design, and this year is no exception. Past years’ textures have included boucle, corduroy, tweed, and plush fleece. Textile designers have been playing with scale, and boucle and velvet now appear in rich hues versus the white of past seasons.

22. Spa-Like Bathrooms

One of the most discussed trends this season has been health, wellness, and beauty, with homeowners desiring elements that nourish and rejuvenate the body. Make way for spa-like bathrooms that incorporate luxurious details such as gleaming metallic surfaces, shower heads that spray filtered and purified water, rich marble details, fluffy white towels, a dedicated seating area, warm wood hues, and handheld shower attachments for massaging and body scrubbing. Chromatherapy, aromatherapy, and audiotherapy are also becoming more popular.

23. Thoughtful Embellishments

Thoughtful embellishments, such as decorative finishing touches on furniture and accent pieces, make a strong statement in 2025. Consider incorporating artful edging, such as the bullnose detail on the kitchen island countertop below. Furniture will include tassels, scallops, embroidery, and fringe details.

24. Home Wellness Spaces

With the growing emphasis on health and well-being, dedicated wellness spaces will increasingly be incorporated into new home design and renovations. These spaces include spa-like bathrooms, meditation and workout rooms, cold plunges, and small-scale yoga studios.

Designers seek to incorporate as much natural light as possible, abundant indoor plants, and calming colors. This also includes quiet reading nook areas or wellness rooms that serve as sanctuaries for relaxation and unwinding.

25. Minimalism With a Cozy Twist

Scandinavian and organic design are here to stay, as is Japandi, a relevant trend from years past. These design aesthetics focus on a neutral color scheme, minimalism, natural materials, and cozy elements. In a beautiful living room designed by Jamie Rose, a neutral palette is accentuated with decadent textures, warm earth tones, and elegant sculptural details.

26. Saturated Colors

I love the move toward rich hues like earthy forest greens, chocolate browns, crimson reds, and deep burgundies. This decadent range of colors is finding its way into interiors again, instantly adding richness and warmth to the spaces they grace. Whether used to color drench a room or as accents such as throw pillows, window treatments, or furniture choices, these bold color choices create layers of color that work with almost every design style.

27. Artful Lighting

2025 moves towards statement lighting that sets the mood and tone of the space rather than serving a functional purpose. Light fixtures become art with sculptural forms, minimalist features, and unconventional approaches. In the powder room below, In Site Design incorporated two striking modern gold wall sconces that add glamour and sophistication to a powder room with beautiful green tiles.

28. Porches That Feel Like Living Rooms

Porches are receiving much attention, with homeowners preferring covered spaces that rival interior living rooms equipped with comfortable seating, fireplaces, climate control features, area rugs, artwork, lighting, and TVs. The Porch Company, based in Nashville, Tennessee, designed an outdoor seating area that extends outdoor entertaining during warmer and cooler months. For hotter days, ceiling fans and screens were installed, while a fireplace and overhead heaters keep things warm in cooler temperatures.

29. Wallpaper… Even On the Ceilings

Wallpaper is no longer reserved for smaller spaces; it is now being applied to make a strong statement in all rooms of the home. Although earthy hues and jewel tones are predominant this season, there is a growing interest in hues such as dusty rose and plaster, which offer a more muted tone than blush pink. Bold patterns make their way into living spaces, and subtly textured prints that add a splash of color.

30. Textured Walls & Ceilings 

In 2025, interior spaces will shift the design approach from plain walls to an explosion of texture that makes a bold statement. There is a notable interest in creating diverse wall treatments and textures using plaster, limewash, or wallpaper for added depth and character. Texture will be incorporated through wallpapered ceilings, stone walls, decorative plaster finishes, and wood paneling to transform flat surfaces into striking focal points that add a modern twist while embracing architectural details.

31. Mixing Different Woods and Metals

Mixing different wood species and metals allows a designer or homeowner to combine textures and tones that make a space feel lived-in and authentic. It’s about creating a space that has developed naturally over time, incorporating contrast and harmony that provides depth and dimension. Consider pairing dark wood flooring with a light wood kitchen island and combining silver and brass details.

32. Wine Red Accents

In 2025, wine emerges as a strong choice for interiors, adding an understated yet sensual and confident splash of color. This deep, rich earth tone is versatile, bridges the gap between neutrals and jewel tones, and adds warmth to a space. In the image below, Studio Montemayor incorporated two curving wine-hued chairs that pair perfectly with a soft pink sofa and brass accents.

33. Shower Rooms

This year, homeowners are seeking a more private approach to showering, and ‘shower rooms’ provide the perfect solution. Although showers featuring a frameless glass enclosure remain popular, they are now also being designed fully enclosed and sealed-in, allowing for the incorporation of steam and sauna functions. This creates a spa-like feel to the space while keeping moisture from spreading to other bathroom areas.

34. Nods to Nature

This year, there will be a noted gravitation toward incorporating natural elements in furniture and accessories. This will include larger indoor plans and natural materials like stone, organic materials, clay, and warm woods. Integrating nature into the built environment brings the outdoors in, creating spaces that foster well-being and relaxation.

35. Color Drenched Rooms

Color-drenching using a single hue in various shades remains popular this season. It creates a bold statement and infuses spaces with personality and warmth. In the bedroom below, interior designer John De Bastiani created a soothing and serene bedroom by drenching the walls in a gorgeous shade of deep green.

36. Romantic Silhouettes

Romantic silhouettes that incorporate an air of softness, warm neutrals, and layered textures elevate any design style, from cottage to coastal and modern. Romanticism adds a luxurious feel to the space, paying homage to the simple things in life, like a quaint coffee nook or a sun-drenched dining room with pastoral charm.

37. Bold Black

Black will continue to make a bold statement as an accent color in 2025. Black can anchor the room’s design, providing effortless contrast while adding a contemporary feel. It can be introduced sparingly through furniture, fixtures, and decor or make a dramatic statement as a feature wall.

38. Multiple Outdoor Cooking Options

In a Houzz U.S. Outdoor Trend Study, homeowners were interested in embracing outdoor cooking methods, from the traditional grill to pizza ovens, smokers, ceramic kamado-style barbecues, and Argentine or gaucho grills that use wood or charcoal. In 2025, a simple grill setup is not nearly as desirable as a backyard kitchen that rivals indoor kitchens, complete with luxury appliances.

39. Moody Earthtones

Saturated hues will be incorporated throughout the home, from embracing jewel tones – to earthy hues and rich woods. Rich leathers and velvets are replacing the ubiquitous gray fabric sofa. In a dark and moody living room designed by Studio McGee, deep green walls pair perfectly with rosewood-colored lounge chairs. Opulent textures like velvet were contrasted with natural materials like wovens and wood to strike a cohesive balance.

40. Pattern-Drenching

In 2025, there will be more fun and bold design elements, including pattern-drenching interiors. Designers this year are forgoing the traditional pattern play (multiple patterns) and opting for a one-and-done approach. Pattern drenching involves applying one print throughout the room, including window treatments, wallpaper, textiles, and bedding. It creates a monochromatic look, similar to color drenching, but with print rather than a solid hue.

41. Large Range Alcoves

Large range alcoves are appearing in numerous new photos being uploaded on Houzz, Pinterest, and Instagram. They add architectural interest while serving as the kitchen’s focal point and are often flanked by countertops and side walls. Alcoves create a natural stopping point and are typically elevated with a stunning backsplash design.
