Rustic Style Interior Design
Rustic style interior design describes a range of styles that have all have a sense of connection to the past that’s hard to resist. It’s a style that emphasizes natural materials, organic shapes, and the art of repurposing. This style also provides a wonderful showcase for ingenuity, as it provides the opportunity to incorporate Southwestern, Country, Lodge, Log Cabin, Western or Farmhouse elements, or a combination of each.
Modern rustic design is also becoming increasingly popular these days, as people are looking for ways to create a home with homespun charm – like a cabin in the woods that promises the perfect relaxing getaway.
In the featured image above, this log home, designed by East Coast-based decorator Pauline Pitt features views of the Rocky Mountain’s Pyramid Peak. The home has Navajo-style carpets, antlers fashioned into chandeliers and a strong focus on sentimental details.

Here’s a few images I’ve rounded up that feature rustic style interior design done well. The owners of these gorgeous rustic homes have used a wide variety of decorative elements ranging from log-treaded stairs, rough-hewn timber walls, peaked natural wood ceilings and beams and paneling made from recycled wood. Interior Samuel Botero created this rustic and inviting bedroom in this John Brons – designed ski chalet in Telluride, Colorado. Rough-hewn timber walls, peaked natural wood ceilings, and arched windows give a corner guest room “the cozy warmth of a log cabin,” Botero says. Rooster lamp from Sentimento. Headboard fabric from Schumacher. Carpet from Stark.

This kitchen has great balance, with its rustic white-washed cabinets, warm wood flooring, and industrial elements. The window treatment pulls in the color of the stone and cabinets.

I love the contrasting texture existing in this unique and warm space, from the large hewn timbers to the stonework and roughly textured drawers.

Rustic Style Interior Design Photographed by Gibeon Photography
The following photos are part of the residential interior portfolio of Peter & Kelley Gibeon (Gibeon Photography). This couple met together as photo students near Aspen and began a path of collaboration. Now residing in Montana, they have worked with creatives from elite California golf communities to Rocky Mountain recreation towns, Central American resorts, the French Riviera and beyond. Not only do I love their work, many of the images capture the beauty of rustic style homes.

What a gorgeous porch with an incredible view! The throw pillows add a punch of color in shades of red, green, white and brown. The perfect place to have coffee in the morning.
A spacious and modern rustic living room with elegant details.
The white cabinets and light wood floor ad brightness to this rustic kitchen. I wouldn’t recommend having so many cabinets with glass doors unless everything coordinates well. It can quickly make a kitchen look cluttered.
This modern rustic bedroom is elegant and minimalistic with a few feminine touches. The rustic side tables, faux fur chair, carpet, area rug and bedding all combine to add interest with texture.
I love this spectacular dining room with a pristine view.
Another great example of modern rustic design done well. A very subtle use of color, pattern, and texture combine to create a warm and inviting space.
This entranceway combines modern, rustic and southwestern elements effortlessly.
A refined, rustic and modern living with a beautiful fireplace as its focal point.
One word for this – FABULOUS! This bedroom and bath area have such a unique design.
A rustic, yet elegant bathroom with an amazing view.
An interesting and unique rustic kitchen incorporating southwestern texture and color.

Ranch Style House Home Tour
This stunning ranch style house is perched high on a hilltop and nestled among the trees claiming its rightful place on a scenic 200-acre property in Texas. The owner desired an ample yet understated home with natural and simple architectural expression that would blend effortlessly into the landscape that surrounds it. Heavy timber columns and stone walls ground the home to the site. Reclaimed siding and simple barn-like structures give the architecture a sense of history and regional belonging. Referencing the owner’s love of the old west, many of the interior walls showcase the same stone and wood that is on the exterior of the home. This gesture alludes to a time when materials were not mass produced but simply gathered from the area and formed as needed.
Beautiful Country Homes Tour
This post features tours of beautiful country homes designed by Beth Webb, an internationally recognized interior designer admired for her tactile, serene, and dynamic spaces. Beth believes beauty only works if it is calibrated by ease, and that elegance is rooted in simplicity. “Texture is my color palette,” says Beth, who uses a variety of materials and objects to create interest in a room. She mingles sinuous profiles with hard lines, juxtaposing masculine and feminine silhouettes to create compelling, sensual spaces. Layered light is another crucial element bringing a sense of warmth, romance and contentment to Beth’s interiors.
