Rustic Home Decor: Design Ideas
When designing a rustic living room, start with the essentials: a comfortable sofa, coffee table and well-made rug. Choose furniture and decor in a mix of colors and textures that inspire you. Keep cozy throws and extra pillows close at hand, and add feature items such as vases, rustic lighting fixtures, wall art and rustic decorative accessories. I’ve provided a few of my favorite items for the August edition of Rustic Decor. The links directly under the images will take you directly to where items can be purchased. Enjoy!
PB Found Woven Wine Bottle
Glass bottles like these, called demijohns, were originally used for storing wine in the villages of Transdanubia, a wine-harvesting region of Hungary. During the early 20th century, they were often wrapped with willow branches for durability and easy transport over long distances.
PB Found Oversized Wine Bottle
Purchased from a collector who carefully selected them from restaurants throughout Central Europe, these vintage glass bottles were once used to store wine or sunflower oil.
PB Found Dough Bowls – Oblong
In the first half of the 20th century, Magyar bakers at farmhouses in Hungary and other Eastern European countries used these hand-carved, antique wooden bowls to make bread each morning.
PB Found Suzani
Rich in culture and history, the suzani was originally used as a wedding canopy in Tajikistan, Kazakhstan & Uzbekistan. Each of these throws was hand selected from a collector in Turkey and is completely unique, showcasing details and various characteristics of the authentic vintage piece. Limited quantity available.
Rustic vases work well as accent pieces in any rustic home decor. I love the warm range of color in this entire collection. From Carolina vases, to recycled glass, bottles, mercury glass jugs, wall mounted and basket vases, there are a diverse range to choose from. I’ve highlighted a few of my favorites, as well as provided a few images to show how they can be used to create an effective and stunning room.
Master potters hand throw and glaze each terra-cotta vase in this eclectic collection. Different colors and accents, like rope handles and partial glazing, give each its own distinct character, yet all stand together as an imaginative set.
Varied shades of terra cotta show through the glaze on our urns for a harmonious contrast to the metal handles, making them both complex and serene.
Recycled Bottle Vases
Recycled Bottle Vases
Hand blown of Mexican recycled glass, these vases and bottles exhibit rich tones that range from amber to deep green. Fill them with botanicals or arrange them on their own for a colorful display.
Tuscan Urns & Whitley Vases
These amply sized ceramics evoke the feeling of the Italian countryside.
Unglazed rims give our stoneware vases a unique texture. Filled with fresh flowers and grouped together on a table or mantel, they create a stunning display.
Rustic Throw Pillows
Tyler Stripe Dhurrie Pillow Covers
No room is complete without a few throw pillows such as our casual stripe, which adds a layer of richness to patterns and solids in coordinating and contrasting hues.
French Wine Bottle Riddling Rack
We fell in love with the look of old champagne riddling racks as display. We’ve mounted our rack away from the wall for an artful array of empty bottles – fine vintages, beautiful labels and bottles just too beautiful to throw away. Place it above an entertainment console, or group several for a unique arrangement.
Eagan Multipanel Large Mirror
This spectacular mirror makes a grand statement. Its multipanel design features 25 beveled mirrors.

Keaton Rustic Dining Room
Destined to be a favorite gathering place, our Keaton dining table is built with the sturdy, welcoming feel of American farmhouse furniture. The legs feature country-style turnings and come in a beautiful finish that’s distressed and edge rubbed to reveal hints of the wood below. The spacious top has planked detailing and includes an extension leaf so there’s always room for more guests.
Benchwright Reclaimed Wood Dining Room
Reminiscent of the bold, industrial character of an early 20th-century work table, our Benchwright Dining Table creates an expressive backdrop for entertaining. Its reclaimed pine top has a weathered and timeworn patina, providing beautiful evidence of its past use; the legs and top are accented with oversized metal bolts and metal support brackets with turnbuckle details. Two drop-in leaves allow seating for a large gathering.

Rustic Living Room Design 1
Natural wood makes this room feel warm, welcoming and visually unified, from the exposed beams to the reclaimed pine table. Wooden objects add distinctive harmony. White sofas decorated with pillows accentuate the room’s natural bent, while two brass lamps introduce touches of rustic black that resonate throughout the room. With softness and definition, the rug echoes the texture of the various wood used.
Rustic Living Room Design 2
This room’s quiet palette allows the little details an opportunity to shine: graceful printed pillows and striped chairs, a reflective mercury lamp, silvery candlesticks and shining glass lanterns. High and low furnishings – a leather bench that doubles as a coffee table and ottoman, and a grand mirror that acts as a second window – keep the space from feeling stagnant. A scattering of faux coral adds natural whimsy.
Rustic Living Room Design 3
Natural light and the daily movement of it make this room work. Parchment walls enliven morning light and enrich the glow of dusk, ivory linen Roman shades filter and add texture to bright afternoon light, and leather furnishings lend a sense of comfort and warmth on both sunny and gray days. Art, books and a living tree infuse the room with personality.
